FAQ
** Can I use the air compressor separately?
No, the air compressor and air dryer must be used together. Otherwise, compressed air containing moisture, oil, and dust will enter the welding gun and air lines, which will not only degrade cutting performance but also damage the equipment. So now we don't offer an option of purchasing xTool air compressor separately.
** Can I use the xTool air dryer with my own air compressor?
Yes, but the air compressor should meet strict requirements:
To achieve best cutting eeffcts, xTool air dryer should be used with an air compressor that has a rated pressure over 10 bar (1,0MPa), air flow over 7CFM@6 bar (200L/min@0,6MPa) when using the xTool SaveGas nozzle.
Also, the air flow that goes into the air dryer should be lower than 14,1 CFM (400L/min), the air pressure should be lower than 12,5 bar (1,25MPa), the air temperature should be lower than 50℃. Otherwise, it will cause damage to the air dryer and bad cutting effects.
** What metals can be cut using xTool's air compressor and refrigerated dryer?
The maximum air pressure output of xTool air compressor is 1.0MPa, stably providing over 0.6MPa during cutting.
When paired with xTool SaveGas™ Nozzle, it can cut up to 4mm stainless steel, 4mm aluminum, 3mm brass, 1mm carbon steel (ordinary nozzle), and 1mm galvanized steel (ordinary nozzle) with no burrs.
For thicker stainless steel, it is recommended to use nitrogen, argon, or an air compressor with a pressure above 1.2MPa.
For thicker carbon steel, oxygen cutting is advised.
** How do xTool air compressor and air dryer differ from other brands?
xTool air compressor is compact yet delivers powerful performance, equipped with a 5.2HP high-power motor that provides up to 1.0MPa pressure and 14.1 CFM airflow, specifically designed for metal cutting.
xTool air dryer features a unique heat exchange module to rapidly cool compressed air and a three-stage precision filter system that removes 99.999% of oil and dust.
Compared to other dryers with only 1 or 2 filtration stages, xTool's filtration efficiency is significantly improved, ensuring longer lifespan and superior cutting results.
**How does an air compressor differ from nitrogen or argon gas?
Lower cost: Nitrogen/argon cylinders are expensive. For example, a 40L nitrogen cylinder at 1.2MPa lasts only ~30 minutes, requiring frequent replacements. In contrast, an air compressor uses free ambient air and only consumes electricity, saving up to €20,000 annually.
Better performance for stainless steel: At the same settings, compressed air achieves burr-free cuts on thicker stainless steel at lower pressures. While compressed air contains oxygen, causing oxidation and darkened cut surfaces. Nitrogen delivers oxidation-free, bright white finishes.
** Are there any limitations or drawbacks to using SaveGas™ Nozzle?
xTool SaveGas™ Nozzle will cause surface scratches and cannot cut intricate patterns smaller than 2.5mm. If high cutting quality and pattern precision are required, it is recommended to use ordinary nozzles and high pressure over 1.2 MPa (compressed air or nitrogen/argon).
What's the electrical environment requirement for xTool air compressor and air dryer?
- Air compressor: 220V, 10A, 2200W rated power.
- Air dryer: 220V, 1.73A, 380W rated power.
What's the spec of air hose connections?
M10 quick-connect structure (10mm diameter hose), same as the xTool MetalFab.
What's the noise level of the xTool air compressor?
About 85dB when it's generating the air.
